Title
In The Kingdom of Jah
Artist
David G Wilson
Medium
Painting - Oil On Burlap
Description
The sun sets on an era, but rises on another. Bob Marley sang, " Jah lives" and the advent of Rastafarianism was at hand. The sun had set on the reign of Ras Tafari, Emperor Haile Selassi I in 1975 as Mengistu Haile Mariam ended the reign of the longest reigning monarch of the twentieth century, but his sun was just rising as the rastaman knelt in hommage to him. The barrenness of Ethiopian landscape is evident in the dry landscape, but the Lion of Judah's flag flew over many other lands. The gates were open and Negusa Negast (King of Kings) was reigning still.
