Amazing work and gallery. Your style gives us so much...a story, symbols, surrealism, portraiture, and pieces that make up the whole giving us a sense of individuals, collectives and accomplishments. Very enjoyable! L/F

Artist's Description

Frederick Douglas was a runaway slave and that accomplishment was an uphill battle. In this painting the viewer sees a slave chased by a slave catcher and shot at by another in a boat on the sea. She is carrying a precious cargo, the future, invisible to the viewer, but precious enough to risk her life. The drama displayed here epitomizes Douglas' "Quest For Freedom" of his people just as he was fortunate enough to acquire his freedom from slavery. The ensuing portrait that emanates from this drama reveals a portrait of Frederick Douglas, the great emancipator. David G. Wilson

About David G Wilson

David G Wilson

I am exhausting tremendous efforts in trying to depict a spacial dimension that is inclusive of the third and supported by a two dimensional surface. It is a dimension that exists somewhere within our three dimensional terrestrial space, congruent and mutually inclusive of empirical realities. Its existence is contingent on the shifting retinal impressions of the viewer's perceptions. I call it: "Alternative Reality.
