Description
The image presented here is an illusion of the Immaculate Conception and the Pieta. The Madonna is composed of two tables upon which are strategically placed some symbolic anthropomorphic objects; the jug which once contained the water turned wine from the wedding at Cana, Christ�s first miracle, which was instigated by Mary and the class of wine with the cherry in it, symbolic of the Immaculate Conception. However, a closer scrutiny of the glass will reveal that it mimics the crucifixion. The wine jug has yielded flowers that depict her features. There is a window through which divine light penetrates. The spirit of divinity passes through without breaking the windowpane, yet it casts the shadow of the window frame onto the tables as an elongated cross. Not only is the cross deposited upon her shoulder, but also onto and into her stomach. That divine light placed the conceived Christ into her womb in the shape of the ultimate divine sacrifice - his crucifixion. Her arms of bread and the glass of wine, which mimics her womb, are metaphoric incarnations of Christ within her body. The bananas which usually represent the hands of my own biological father, Mr. Henzie A. Wilson, (the hands that fed me) are here transformed into the hands of my spiritual father whose are the only ones that could perform such a miracle. The crucifix is reproduced in three places; the glass of wine, the frame of the window and the shadow of the window cast onto her shoulder and stomach, all three together are representative of the HOLY TRINITY. � David G.
