Title
La Joconde Bleue La Sanssourire or La Morose
Artist
David G Wilson
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
If "La Joconde" means the smiling lady then "La Sanssourie" or "La Morose" is the opposite and it means "Unsmiling" or "The Sullen" or is she? La Joconde Bleue does not flash a smile, however, a close scutiniy may reveal a slight smile depending on the angle at which one looks at her. From a darked room one may see a woman running through a door and out into the cold night. As if crazed, she is also holding her head as though she has just seen a horrific sight that chased her out of the house at the dead of night.Through the door and in the distance, one may see a little hut with smoke issuing through its chimney. There is moonlight and a lamppost for illumination and collectively these entities plausibly constitute a face that simulates that of the Mona Lisa. A further glance will also reveal that there are two faces. A smirking male profile and the unsmiling Mona Lisa. Her neck and chest reveal the image of a kitten while the baby's crib over her shoulder doubles as a growling dog. The hand of bananas which represent the right hand of the Mona Lisa are placed there in defference to my father, the late Mr. Henzie A. Wilson whose had fed me.
