Description
I have created an illusion of an alternative reality within the image of the Mona Lisa. I projected my perception of that alternative reality onto the image of the Mona Lisa, thereby depicting another dimension withing the preexisting three dimensional illusion that she is. It depicts a view through a window that reveals the departure of a husband and wife from their home on a windy evening bound for the shopping center. The wife balances a basket on her wrist while her husband holds her hand as she descends the stairs. They are both holding their hats, which is indicative of the wind effect. There is another lady crossing the waterfront whereon one sees a boat through the legs of the distant lady. All three are wearing trench coats, since it is the rainy season. The leaky roof of the house has allowed the rain to enter and damage the wallpaper, which is peeling away from the wall. In the interior, there is an armchair draped with some blue fabric with gold stripes. There is an embroidered doily on the back of the armchair and someone has nonchalantly placed a hand of bananas on the arm of the chair.
In the middle ground, there is a baby's crib, which explains some historians' belief that Mona Lisa may have been pregnant when her portrait was executed.
The objective here is to show that my imagination allows me to perceive within the contours of this iconic da Vinci image, an alternative reality that coexists with my visual invention both being mutually inclusive and reveal two distinct images existing in a parallel universe. This is created by producing an illusionary three dimensional images on a two dimensional surface. Viewed that way, the two images then create sub-dimension within our three dimensional terrestrial space.
