Description
You are looking at the crucifixion through the eyes of Christ. I have tried to imagine myself in the body of Christ to get the feeling of what he experienced as he was hanging on the cross. So what did he see as he was hanging on that cross? He obviously must have felt the stabbing pain of the soldier's lance as it pierced his side. It also stands to reason that he would have looked down and seen the soldier thrusting the lance into his side and so he would have seen the lower part of his body when he looked down from the cross. As he looked down he would also have seen the lower part of the cross as it was planted into the ground. He might also have seen his mother kneeling at the foot of the cross and wringing her hands in maternal anguish and so she would have come into view. Now, having juxtaposed all of these images that might have coalesced into his vision, I then visualized the face of Christ looking at me intensely for being so presumptuous about in placing myself into his body. I must beg forgiveness for my presumptuousness. © David G. Wilson
